Is Base44 a database?
Base44 includes a hosted database, but it is not a database product. It is an AI app builder: you describe an app and it generates a React frontend, TypeScript backend functions and entities (tables) defined as JSON schemas, all hosted on Base44's infrastructure. The database is part of each app rather than a shared, relational back office. Jestor starts from the data: relational tables with N:1, N:M and 1:1 connections, permissions at the field level, and interfaces (kanban, forms, dashboards) built on top of them.
What is the difference between Jestor and Base44?
Base44 generates a custom app from prompts, charges in monthly credits, and expects you to build, secure and maintain it (or pay for Enterprise services). Jestor is an operations platform where our team builds the system for you, you change it by prompt or MCP, and the price is flat with unlimited users. Base44 is better for shipping a standalone product quickly and owning the code; Jestor is better for internal operations that need permissions, approvals, SLAs and automations to keep working without a developer on staff.
Is Jestor a Base44 alternative?
For internal operations systems, yes. Does Base44 have unlimited users?
Effectively yes for building: Base44 states “In the new model there are no workspace seats” and “You can invite as many people as you want to a workspace.” For app end users, no per-user charge or limit is published. Cost on Base44 is driven by credits consumed, not by headcount. Jestor also has unlimited users on every plan; the difference is that Jestor’s price does not move with usage inside published limits.
Does Base44 have permissions and roles?
Yes. Base44 supports Row Level Security and Field Level Security on entities, with default Admin and User roles and custom roles you can ask the AI to create. The rules “are part of your entity schema”, so you configure them and deploy with the CLI or through the AI. Jestor ships role, table and field permissions on every plan, configured by our team, and the AI inherits them automatically.
Does Base44 have automations?
Yes: TypeScript backend functions, workflows and scheduled tasks. Running them consumes integration credits (about 1 credit per 100 function invocations, about 0.1 per workflow step plus the cost of each action such as an email). Jestor includes 380+ automation blocks with Python, PHP and .NET support and a monthly run allowance (3,000 on Pro, 15,000 on Ops Team, 50,000 on Dedicated) inside the flat price.
What happens when Base44 credits run out?
According to Base44’s documentation, when message credits run out “you cannot send new messages in the AI chat until you have message credits again”, and when integration credits run out “any action you perform that requires integration credits fails and shows an error”. End users of the app see a generic error. Unused credits expire monthly. You can top up at any time or upgrade. Jestor has no credit meter; limits are published per plan as records per table and automation runs.
Who builds the system in Jestor?

Not at the UI level. Base44 generates any interface you can describe, in React, and you own the code. Can I import my Base44 data into Jestor?
Base44 entities can be exported through its API and SDK, and the entity schemas live as JSON files in the project (visible through GitHub sync on Builder and above). Jestor imports CSV and connects through its REST API, and our team handles the migration during setup. Note that Base44’s Terms state the company “makes no warranties or guarantees regarding the functionality, compatibility, or usability of any such exported Customer Data”.
Is Jestor secure?
Jestor is SOC 2 Type II compliant and audited annually, with MFA, role and field-level permissions, snapshot recovery for records, fields, tables and app pages, SSO with OIDC on the top plan, and a single audit log for human and AI actions. Base44 is SOC 2 Type II compliant and ISO 27001 certified, encrypts data with TLS 1.2+ and AES-256, and includes a security scanner; audit logs, SSO enforcement and SCIM are part of its Enterprise offering.
Who owns the data?
On Jestor, you do: full export any time via CSV and API, no exit fee. On Base44, the customer “owns all rights, title and interest in the code and applications generated by the Platform”, and the Terms also grant the company a broad license to Customer Data and Generated Output and state that the company “does not guarantee continued access to Customer Data stored on the Platform” after termination. Read both agreements before choosing.
What's included in each Jestor plan?
Every plan includes unlimited users. Records per table start at 10,000 (Pro), 50,000 (Ops Team) and 150,000 (Dedicated), and automation runs per month at 3,000 / 15,000 / 50,000. These are the allowances included in the price, not ceilings: both can be expanded with add-ons as your operation grows, without changing plan.
Can Jestor and Base44 work together?
Yes. A Base44 app can read and write Jestor records through Jestor's REST API, and Jestor automations can call Base44 backend functions over HTTP. A common split is Base44 for a customer-facing app and Jestor as the permissioned operations system behind it.
